I couldn’t help but think of Tanzania when I watched this. Many of the headlines we are currently reading about the elections involve claims of miscounts. David Bismark is proposing something that may seem obvious in theory, but which does not happen in practice. This is a solid entry point for youth who are thinking of working with the government in creating public-private partnerships which yield sustainable returns.

How appropriate this talk is as Tanzanian voters end this week-long ballet with NEC. A week spent ‘counting’ (miscounting rather) the votes of some 8 million people. I have a feeling NEC personnel were using ‘vizibo vya fanta’ to count these votes. Tanzania, will you get there?
Sounds like a nice idea but it will surely take so many years before such a system could be adopted by a country like Tanzania.I kind of find the approach a lot more complicated than it should be though.
I would think going “green”/paperless altogether should be the best approach! And the verification of one’s voting could be done in so many ways…a text-message service approached would better suit a country like Tanzania.
Otherwise,it’s a pretty good job…such a system would help strengthen our democracies.
