Recently, we showcased one Maweni Farm production: Sex, Lies and Ignorance, which was a look into the lives of young Tanzanian mothers.
Today we’re showcasing Mimba, another related Maweni Farm documentary. This time, the production is about pregnancy in Lushoto, Serengeti and Moshi.
Mimba says a lot about the availability of resources for pregnant women on the verge of delivery, and compares these resources across the three regions. More importantly, it discusses what clinical support interventions (if any) are facilitated by the Tanzanian government.
Watch for the two lines “We elders depend on the young to bring development” and “This was not created in a day, this is a culture that has developed over time.” What can be said about the difference between traditional, community-based support and professional, hospital-based support?
This is, weird enough, a very useful documentary for the kind of research i am doing now.. Any documentaries out there about the issue of unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortion measures??
@Anon, you might want to check out the previous documentary. We’ll drop you a line here if we pick up anything else!
Cool.. thanx.. much appreciated..
Any plans to share the research with Vijana FM? 🙂 Cheers, only if you have time/resources.
Are you looking at rural Tanzania in particular?
I will share the creative visual outcome that is expected to come from all this research :).. so far i have found the most readings on rural Tanzania.. but i am interested in the city as well.. there are a few girls that i plan to interview in the city.. cant wait to hear what they say… if they dont change their minds that is LOL
Nice! Thanks for looking out. You might want to check in with the other blogs from/focussed on Tanzania; I think you’ll find at the very least that there are others who are interested in your research… Keep us posted!
