Poll #6 asked “Where can we learn about and discuss religious diversity?” The poll was open for a week on the Vijana FM homepage sidebar from October 14th to October 21st.
Results indicated a total of 7 responses as follows:
- Anywhere: 43%
- In school: 29%
- At home: 14%
- At religious congregations: 14%
- Nowhere: 0%
- Other: 0%
Tanzania has recently been witnessing extraordinary rioting by groups who claim it is their religious right to do so. Outside of Tanzania, similar movements have quickly developed into political feats rather than dialogue at the religious level. So, considering that most people who voted on this poll suggested we can discuss religious diversity anywhere, how do we explain the lack of such dialogue that leads to rioting? Is it that the dialogue does not happen or cannot happen? And if we assume that it simply does not happen anywhere, what kind of environment can we constructively share each others beliefs?
Discussion welcome below. Thanks for voting!
