NUHA Foundation has been accepting entries into its global blogging prize competition. The deadline is PST midnight on Sunday 12th October (or for Tanzanians, 10am on Monday 13th October).
As the prize description says, the focus is “on the quality of your argument and the originality of your ideas”, even if English is not your first language.
There are 3 categories for the prize, and a choice of 3 topics to choose from in each category:
- For people born between 2000 and 2004
- Prize is £50 (about US$85)
- See topics here
- For people born between 1996 and 1999
- Prize is £100 (about US$170)

- For people born before 1996

I believe competitions like this sustain global literature in at least two ways: First, they cater to a broad audience, so there is no need to be “qualified”. All good arguments are celebrated. Second, submitted content is shared online, so work remains in our collective memory as long as the cloud exists. This is regardless of who wins.
On behalf of Vijana FM, I wish you a speedy and successful submission! Happy writing.
