The NUHA Blogging Prize 2019 is accepting entries up to 12th October 2019.
NUHA is an education NGO based in the UK that aims to “foster effective learning communities by supporting existing structures.”
NUHA’s blogging prize engages writers in 3 age categories to explore interesting subjects and stand a chance to win cash prizes.
This year’s topics in each age category are as follows:
Young Writers – for those born in the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 or 2009.
The requirement is an essay or a short story based on one of the photos below of between 300 and 800:
Winner: Up to $250 | 2nd Prize: Up to $100 | 3rd Prize: Up to $50.

Youth Prize – for those born in the years 2001, 2002, 2003 or 2004.
The requirement is an essay on any of the following topics of between 500 to 1,200 words:
- “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”- Albert Einstein. Discuss.
- “The great thing about social media was how it gave a voice to voiceless people.” – Jon Ronson
- “Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.” – Roger Lewin
- Discuss the photo.
Winner: Up to $900 | 2nd Prize: Up to $600 | 3rd Prize: Up to $400.

Adult category – for those born before 2001.
The requirement is an essay on any one of the following topics of between 600 and 1,500 words:
- “I don’t feel that it is necessary to know exactly what I am. The main interest in life and work is to become someone else that you were not in the beginning.” – Michel Foucault. Discuss.
- “La haine attire la haine.” (Hate attracts hate.) – From La Haine, dir. Mathieu Kassovitz. Discuss.
- “If there’s no conflict, there are no stories worth telling – or reading.” – Veronica Roth. Do you agree?
- “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” – Henry Ford. Discuss.
Winner: Up to $2400 | 2nd Prize: Up to $1200 | 3rd Prize: Up to $400.
