Four Tanzanian bloggers share their experience

By definition a blog is an online journal or informational website, with the most recent posts appearing at the top of the page. People start blogs to share their views and opinions on particular subjects or topics. Fashion, food, and travel blogs are among the most popular.

Starting a blog, however, is never easy. I asked some of the best Tanzanian bloggers I know on what their day as bloggers looks like. Here are their experiences.

I officially started blogging about three years ago after my mentor talked me into it. I am a teacher by profession so writing and teaching they just kind of blend in well.

To me writing is more like a journey to self discovery and about helping others find the true purpose of life and stay focused. If you are a writer, you are also a reader by default. So, each day I wake up reading whether books, articles or magazines online.

I also prefer spending one or two hours on call interacting with fellow writers, sharing my perspectives or asking for opinions about something I’m going to write. Being a blogger is not easy work. It needs passion and consistent practice.

Well, I have a full time job so I commit to my blog after office hours, mostly after dinner. My day routine starts with me waking at 7:AM, say the prayers and checking on the analytics and search console just to see the stats of my blog. I would then check my emails, reply to urgent WhatsApp messages and log in to social media a bit. I’m also an avid book reader so my day involves reading at least one chapter. All of these contribute to my writing output as they help me get ideas on what to write about.

For me Blogging is a full time job, It has helped to open up other opportunities in my life. The first thing when my day starts, I take my time to do Analytics to get a full picture of what’s going on in the blog especially on the whole issue of its growth whether it be days, weeks and even months.  After that I am able to identify what kind of content has had a positive reaction on Blog; and that is where the journey of preparing new content begins after finding out exactly what my readers have been closely monitoring.

It usually takes one to two hours preparing a blog post depending on the topic. But before writing I would do a few surveys by reading articles from affiliate blogs or talking to individuals to get their opinion on something I want to write;  After that I am ready to prepare new content.

In a day I can write two articles, and up to five news (entertainment news), this depends on the day and the availability of information. After all that, the remaining part is being able to share my content across all platforms, social networks, forums, and so on.

My day looks overwhelmingly busy. I always feel like 24 hours are never enough. I read a lot since that’s an easy way to get new ideas, I brainstorm ideas for my blog and social media accounts, I post them and I stay engaged with people because they also contribute in my journey.

As a blogger, I feel like I never tune out, even when I am sleeping I am still thinking about what I can do with and for my blog. Add to that with normal life, being present and just living, it definitely is a full time job. This is why I usually take a break from it all once a month so that I can have time for myself.
