Recently we told you about NUHA Foundation’s blog prize. We’re happy to let you know that they have published a shortlist of submissions. The NUHA blog editor will announce the winners on 7th December 2011. In the current shortlist, out of a total of 26 candidates, seven were from East Africa!
The complete shortlist and their essays can be found on the NUHA website. Below we list the East African candidates categorized by age and their essay topics:
Youth Category:
- Gabriel, Felister (age 16, from Kilimanjaro, Tanzania): In the 21st century, it is better to give a child a computer than a book
- Rogath, Mary (age 17, from Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania): Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world
General category:
- Gabriel Malamsha, Jastin (age 24, from Morogoro, Tanzania): The illiterate
- Kigongo, Kingi (age 27, from Morogoro, Tanzania): Only The Educated Are Free
- Mnonjela, Elia (age 22, from, Morogoro, Tanzania):Â Only The Educated Are Free
- Shiloh, Monicah (age 21, from Kilimanjaro Tanzania): Only The Educated Are Free
- Wesula, Alexis (age 22, from Kenya): Only The Educated Are Free
